Michael is Principal of Hannaway and Hannaway, a Land Surveying and Mapping Practice established 1990 in Newry, Northern Ireland. The practice provides a full range of Geomatic survey services, from topographic land surveys to large scale mapping using UAV’s (drones) and remote sensing across all Ireland. Michael is an acknowledged expert in Land Disputes and regularly gives evidence in court in respect of boundary, easement, and trespass issues.
Michael has been actively involved with RICS since 2004 and has served on the Geomatics Professional Group Board 2005-2010, the RICS NI Board 2005-2013 (as Chairman 2011-13). He also was a member of the NI Geographic Information Council advising the NI Assembly on the benefits and utilization of geographic based information.
He is currently Chairman of the RICS NI awards judges panel, and a member of both the RICS NI Board and the UK & Ireland World Regional Board.
Michael was elected to transitionary Governing Council for 2018-19.
