Michael is the Managing Director of an independent family based Chartered Surveying practice, which operates within Lancashire, the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District.
He qualified as a chartered surveyor in 1990 and has been fortunate to have worked in England, Scotland and Wales in a variety of roles including valuations, rating appeals, estate, project and facilities management and higher education. He has been very fortunate to specialise in building surveys.
However, if asked which are the most memorable projects he has been involved in to date he will invariably recall his involvement with the many schemes in North Scotland which brought to light for him the importance of our world, our nation, the people and community.
Michael has been a volunteer for RICS for many years; starting with membership of the Lancashire JO in the 1980’s, Chairing the Bolton RICS group, presenting RICS web classes, residential survey roadshows, technical authorship and a member of RICS product development. He is an APC assessor and APC chair and is formerly vice chair of UCU Bolton.
He is a strong advocate of mentoring, inclusion and the promotion of small and medium chartered surveying practices. Michael is completing is research degree at the University of Salford on the status of the Chartered Surveyor in Society and has also been lucky to have been invited to teach in Holland and Finland on real estate matters, Michael is married with 6 children and likes rugby, horse riding and sailing.
Michael was elected to transitionary Governing Council for 2018-19.
